Utah construction industry struggles with labor shortage

In this Nov. 10, 2017, photo, Dustin Brinkerhoff, owner of Brinkerhoff Custom Construction, walks with boards to put in place as a temporary safety guard rail at a worksite of a future home in Mapleton, Utah. According to research by Ken Simonson, the chief economist for the Associated General Contractors of America, the construction industry is generally very robust. Utah sits in the middle of the pack, adding about 4,000 jobs in the past year. Brinkerhoff sees effects of labor shortage in "every job, every day." (Isaac Hale/The Daily Herald via AP)
