A Herriman home was destroyed early Saturday morning in a blaze that brought more than 30 firefighters to snuff it out, authorities said.

Someone walking a dog about 4 a.m. near 15000 S. 5000 West saw smoke billowing from a neighbor's two-story home, Unified fire spokesman Matthew McFarland said.

The first firefighters on the scene could not see flames, but they noticed the home was highly pressurized with smoke, he said. Nobody was injured at the home, at 14652 S. Quiet Glen Drive, and McFarland said the residents were away when the blaze began.

Firefighters were worried about two neighboring homes catching fire. They briefly evacuated those residents, though ultimately thwarted damage elsewhere, McFarland said.

He said the blaze was extinguished in about 30 minutes. Investigators remained unsure later Saturday what sparked the fire.
