As temperatures climb back into the 80s early next week, officials say they are worried rapid snowmelt will cause flooding on the Logan River.
The National Weather Service on Sunday issued a flood watch for the river above Cutler Reservoir, lasting from Tuesday through Saturday.
The river is forecast to rise near flood stage near Logan by Tuesday morning and above flood stage the remainder of the week, officials said. Flood stage on the river is 5 feet or 1,370 cubic feet per second.
Flooding could damage areas in Logan Canyon and homes near the confluence of the Logan River and the Blacksmith Fork River.
Sunday is expected to reach a high of 76 in the Salt Lake City area.
Memorial Day should see near-perfect conditions, with a sunny high near 81 degrees and a light breeze in the Salt Lake City area. Southern Utah highs will climb well into the 90s.
Temperatures are forecast to stay in the 80s around Salt Lake City through the week; thunderstorms are possible from Wednesday onward.
