A South Jordan couple is offering $10,000 for information that leads to the person who shot and killed their son.

"We're offering this reward so hopefully the police can get some more information and maybe help with their investigation," Matthew Holt's mother, Maxine Holt, said Thursday.

Matthew Holt, 46, was shot in his car on April 16, Easter, near the Jordan River Parkway, according to South Salt Lake Police. The car was parked in a lot near 3200 South and 900 West with the driver-side door ajar, Keller said.

A man found Holt's body at 2:45 p.m., but, according to Keller, police suspect the shooting may have occurred several hours earlier.

Police don't know what Matthew Holt was doing in the parking lot or why he was shot, Keller said, nor do they have suspects.

But investigators are confident that the shooter drove a silver Chevrolet Sonic hatchback with a sunroof, Keller said, based on footage from nearby security cameras.

None of the camera angles shows a license plate, according to Keller.

"It's left a huge void in our lives to have him taken," Maxine Holt said. "We're just taking it hour by hour. … We have a lot of support from family and friends, which has been tremendously helpful to us."

Police ask anyone who was on the Jordan River Parkway near 3200 South between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on April 16 to call police at 801-840-4000.
