West Valley City police had three suspects in custody after a high-speed chase ended with a prolonged manhunt early Thursday.

About 3:30 a.m., WVCPD detectives had tried to pull over a vehicle driven by a 40-year-old man wanted on felony warrants, which then sped away. Numerous attempts were made to spike the vehicle's tires until, concerned with public safety, police terminated the pursuit.

A short time later, the suspects' car was founded abandoned in neighboring Taylorsville.

Aided by Unified Police and West Jordan officers, WVCPD set up a containment area near 5500 West and 2800 South. Police dogs also were used as the search for the suspects got under way.

One of the suspects had attempted to hide in an area home, only to flee when confronted by one of the residents. The man was located and arrested a short distance away, police said.

Meanwhile, the original fugitive and a female companion allegedly had broken into an RV parked at another home.

About 5:30 a.m., after police discovered them, the two surrendered.
