Utah's occasionally wet midweek interlude is over. Up next: clear, breezy skies and abundant sunshine.
Thursday's highs will be in the upper-70s along the Wasatch Front, up a few degrees from Wednesday. Southerly winds of 10-20 mph will continue on Friday, with the mercury climbing into the upper-80s in the Salt Lake and Tooele valleys.
"Don't just stand there dreaming," the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia once rasped. "Get out the way, get out the way. Here comes sunshine."
Southern Utahns began Wednesday with scattered rain showers, but clearing skies by afternoon preceding highs in the mid-70s. However, the solar engine that generally rules Utah's Dixie will hit on all metaphorical cylinders come Thursday, when highs will be in the mid-80s.
Friday brings highs around 90 degrees to the redrocks, along with daytime breezes and evening winds of 15-25 mph.
However, those sunny forecasts also may bring a cough or sneeze as you venture outdoors. The Utah Division of Air Quality rates all of the state's counties except Cache and Tooele ("which were "green," or healthy) at "yellow," or compromised particulate pollution levels by Friday.
The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website listed mulberry pollen as "very high" and oak, mold and grass were "moderate" as of Wednesday.
