Nearly 270,000 new properties — including dormant bank accounts — worth $33 million have been added to the state abandoned property list and are available for rightful owners to claim, according to Treasurer David Damschen.

The list is searchable online at mycash.utah.gov. Inquiries also can be made by calling 801-715-3300.

Last year, the treasurer's office paid out $21.6 million to owners who filed claims.

"Checking to see if you've lost property is simple, easy and something everyone should do," said Dennis Johnston, administrator of the unclaimed property division.
