A fire in a vacant Salt Lake City warehouse Friday night left the building with an estimated $50,000 in damage, officials said.

The building, located near 350 West and 700 South, was empty and had no working utilities, said Salt Lake City Fire Capt. Mark Bednarik. The blaze was reported just before 9:20 p.m., he said. No one was injured.

About 35 firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze in about 30 minutes, Bednarik said. Officials said there was evidence that homeless people had been using the building for shelter and that the fire was human caused, though the exact cause was under investigation late Saturday morning.
