Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski has joined a national effort to encourage U.S. cities to transition to clean energy.
Biskupski joins mayors from Miami Beach, Fla., Columbia, S.C. and San Diego as leaders of the Sierra Club's "Ready for 100" campaign, which aims to persuade 100 cities to make a commitment similar to one made by Utah's capital last summer.
"Climate change is one of the most challenging issues of our time," Biskupski said in a news release. "Progress depends on collaboration. I'm looking forward to sharing our example of how that's working in Salt Lake City, while encouraging other leaders across the country to join with us in this historic commitment."
