The brownie mix dessert included in some breaded chicken-nugget meals shipped nationwide may be contaminated with salmonella, according to a public-health alert issued Thursday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The items produced by Conagra Brands Inc. affect 110,817 pounds of frozen meals, an FSIS news release states.
The FSIS public-health alert applies to the 7.4-ounce vacuum-packed trays of Banquet brand Chicken Nuggets with Mac & Cheese. The trays were produced Jan. 26 and have a "best if used by" date of July 20, 2018. Code 3100080921 and "P-9" also will be printed on the side of the box.
