A Park City man was killed Sunday when his car sped off State Route 65 and crashed into a cottonwood tree, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 11:22 a.m. in the East Canyon area in Morgan County, a UHP news release says. The release says no one witnessed the crash but some campers heard the impact.

The 52-year-old man had been involved in an incident at a Jeremy Ranch residence earlier but had left before Summit County sheriff's deputies arrived and troopers were helping look for him when the crash occurred, UHP said.

Authorities did not release details about the incident and the identity of the man has not been released pending notification of relatives.
