A South Jordan man died when his motorcycle crashed into a concrete barrier wall on the Interstate 15-State Road 201 exchange in Salt Lake County Sunday night.

The Utah Highway Patrol identified the victim as John Unker, 48.

Unker was riding his 2014 BMW S1000RR sport bike on a northbound collector ramp to westbound SR-201 about 11 p.m. when he lost control and struck the wall.

Unker, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His motorcycle was found approximately 400 yards down the highway from where his body was located, UHP reported.

Speed was considered a possible factor on the crash, but it remained under investigation.
