Roy • Police in northern Utah have arrested a married couple after receiving reports that they were abusing their sons.

Roy Police Sgt. Matt Gwynn says the Utah Division of Child and Family Services contacted detectives on Thursday about a neglect complaint they had received.

Gwynn says the three boys had been locked in a bedroom for 10 to 13 hours at a time. Police believe that the boys, who are between the ages of 7 and 11, may have had their eyes and mouths covered with duct tape and their wrists bound with plastic zip ties.

Gwynn says the couple was fostering a 2-year-old girl at the time of their arrests and there is no evidence that the girl was abused.

DCFS spokeswoman Ashley Sumner says the agency's first consideration is child safety.
