Salt Lake City police arrested a man on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving while intoxicated after a bicyclist was struck and hospitalized early Thursday morning.

The victim of the 1:30 a.m. collision, near 900 West and 1700 South, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The man, 56, was in critical condition but had been stabilized and was expected to recover, SLCPD Detective Greg Wilking said.

The driver of a Ford Bronco involved in the incident was located about a block away from the scene. The 44-year-old man was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of drinking while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

A passenger in the truck also was arrested and booked for obstruction of justice.
