A storm that pummeled northern Utah led police to suspend a search Monday for a fisherman who was reported missing near Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area Friday.

Authorities believe the man fell into the water and drowned while unloading a boat.

The Daggett County sheriff's office said the search for the unidentified 59-year-old man was temporarily suspended "due to inclement weather and underwater equipment complications."

Susie Potter, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, said responding teams were unable to get to the area because of the weather, and that search crews were having problems with sonar equipment.

They will continue the search with new or repaired equipment and when weather permits additional crews to arrive, Potter said.

The office hopes to resume the search in the coming days, Potter said.
