A man has suffered minor injuries after a plane crash in Tooele County on Tuesday afternoon.

The plane had been reported missing late Tuesday afternoon.

The pilot, a 42-year-old man, had been seeding burned area for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and was heading back to Nephi over Red Pine Peak when he lost power 6 feet from the top and crashed, said Tooele County Sgt. Nick Yale.

The pilot suffered lacerations to his fingers, a bloody nose and abrasions on his abdomen. He walked to the nearest road, Pony Express Road, where he contacted the BLM ground crew in the area, said Yale.

The FAA will investigate the crash remove the plane, which the pilot told Yale was a "total loss."

Search and rescue crews from Tooele and Juab counties had been called to locate the crashed plane.

The pilot had called his son, who reported the plane missing at 5:30 p.m., said Yale; the pilot was found at 7:30 p.m.
