Though initially concerning, police now say no foul play was involved in the death of a Salt Lake City man whose body was found lying in a field near Salt Lake City International Airport this weekend.

Officers on Tuesday identified the body as James Delbert Bown, 52, according to a tweet from Salt Lake City police. His death was ruled not suspicious.

There were no signs of trauma and no wounds from a gun, said SLCPD Detective Greg Wilking, though the location where Bown's body was found raises questions.

"This isn't an area where somebody would be hanging out," Wilking added. "It's a little strange that he was there."

It also is unclear what caused Bown's death.

The property owner was riding through the area on a horse Saturday when he stumbled across the body near 3200 West and 2600 North.

Police have yet to determine a time frame for the death, noting only that the body was badly decomposed.
