A man in his 30s is dead after a fall from the roof of a parking structure in downtown Salt Lake City on Monday.

Witnesses told police they saw the man pacing back and forth on the roof near Regent Street (40 East) and Orpheum Avenue (130 South) and then saw him go off the side about 4:45 p.m., Salt Lake City police Lt. Justin Hudson said.

Hours later, police were trying to determine whether the fall was by accident or on purpose, Hudson said, but witnesses believed the man was alone on the rooftop.

The man's name was withheld, pending notification to next of kin.
