One man was shot Saturday in a park in Kearns, police said.

The victim was in critical condition Saturday night but was expected to survive, said Unified Police Detective Jared Richardson.

The shooting happened about 5:25 p.m. in David Gourley Park, 5015 S. 4300 West.

Richardson said a witness heard two gunshots then looked to see two men in their mid-20s running in different directions.

One of the men went to a home north of the park, said he had been shot and asked for help, Richardson said. He was taken to a hospital.

Police on Saturday were looking for the second man. Also Saturday, police dogs and their handlers were searching the park for evidence, Richardson said.
