After finishing in the Top 14 on "American Idol" and recording the song showcased in "Dancing With The Stars" winning finale number, Jenn Blosil will return to "the stage that helped raise" her Monday night.

Blosil, a 2010 alumna of Mountain View High School, will headline at a benefit concert to help families affected by a Nov. 15 attack at the Orem school in which five students were injured.

Others slated to perform are local celebrities Na-G, a rapper from Provo, and Mimi Knowles, a hip-hop artist from Provo. Students will also perform, and Miss Utah Lauren Wilson is scheduled to emcee the show, said event organizer and teacher Danielle Macias.

Blosil, 24, has a brother who is a junior at MVHS, and while he wasn't hurt in the attacks, their family knows some of the people affected, she said. For that reason, this concert is more "personal" than most shows she has played.

The Mountain View community is unique, she said, because "everyone is friends with each other."

"At the school the kids were so respectful," Blosil said. Her brother and others refused to gossip about the stabbing out of respect for the victims and their families, she said. "I thought that was so cool."

Macias and her husband came up with the idea for the concert as she was talking to him about the "emotional" events.

"You don't know what to do. You don't know how to help," Macias said. "And so I thought this would be great to help the families who were involved and not just make it a celebration that everybody is OK, [but] besides that, we wanted to celebrate that our community was united and just the countless miracles that happened."

Orem has a special "sense of community," Blosil said, and she is looking forward to see people there "gather together in solidarity."

"I'm excited to perform for that community that helped make me the person that I am," she said.

Macias hopes this night can be a time, especially for students, not to be reminded of the "tragedy and that people are victims, but [that they're] more of survivors."

Presale prices are $5 per ticket or $20 for a family packet, which admits five people. At the show, tickets will be $7 at the door. All money raised at the event in the MVHS auditorium will be added to the "Bruin Strong" account for families.

Students will perform from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and headliners will perform from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The 16-year-old boy who allegedly attacked fellow students with knives and a wooden staff, has been charged in 4th District Juvenile Court with five counts of attempted murder, a first-degree felony, along with other misdemeanor charges.
