A 20-year-old man remained in the Salt Lake County jail Monday, accused of having threatened and beaten his ex-roommate when she tried to pick up her belongings over the weekend.

Salt Lake City police detectives said the woman called 911 at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, claiming the man had first produced a BB gun to keep her from leaving for several hours. During that period, he allegedly beat her.

When the woman finally escaped through a window the suspect, also attempted to use a stun gun on her leg, police said.

Officers arrived at the residence near 2500 South and 900 East and arrested the man.

He was being held Monday in lieu of $20,000 bail, on suspicion of third-degree felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
