A West Valley City man was shot in the back while sitting in his living room early Saturday, the victim of a drive-by shooting.

The 32-year-old man called police about 1:20 a.m. from his home near 3200 South and 4100 West, said West Valley City police Lt. Blair Barfuss. At least six shots fired from outside struck the house, with one bullet going through the window and hitting the man, who sat on his couch inside.

He was in serious condition and expected to recover, Barfuss said.

Several witnesses reported seeing a vehicle leaving the area, but police were unable to locate anyone connected with the shooting. Police are investigating what precipitated the shooting.
