Ogden • Officials say a family was able to escape a fire that erupted inside their Weber County home's garage, but two cats died from smoke inhalation.

The Standard-Examiner reports that fire crews had responded Monday morning to find the Pleasant View garage fully engulfed in flames.

North View Fire District Capt. Dave Griggs says the family of three had made it outside the home by the time firefighters arrived. Crews were able to save two of the family's iguanas, but were unable to rescue the two cats.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The damage to the house has been estimated at $60,000.
