A public viewing was held Tuesday evening for Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Ellsworth, who died last week — four days after being struck by a car while on duty.

The viewing was held at the Willard LDS Stake Center, 8230 S. Highway 89, in Willard.

Ellsworth's public funeral is scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Weber State University's Dee Events Center.

After the funeral ceremony, Ellsworth's body will be interred at the Brigham City Cemetery, 300 E. 300 South, in Brigham City.

Ellsworth had stopped to assist with a downed power line in Box Elder County about 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 18, and was trying to alert the driver of a semitrailer truck about the power line when a car driven by a teenage girl struck him, police have said.

Ellsworth, a 32-year-old Utah native, is survived by his wife, Janica, and three sons.
