A man was taken to a hospital Friday night in Weber County with a bullet wound to the abdomen — but police aren't sure who fired the shot.

Officers responded to a West Haven home near 1000 West and Wilson Lane (2200 South) about 5 p.m., said Weber County sheriff's Lt. Nate Hutchinson. A 40-year-old man at the residence was bleeding from the abdomen after being shot.

It is unclear, Hutchinson said, if the wound was self-inflicted or if someone else fired the gun.

"[We're] still figuring out what happened," he said.

The man was transported with serious injuries and was expected to survive.
