A 38-year-old man died Friday after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle in Provo.

The man, identified as Jaxen Allred, was not wearing a helmet, according to Provo police Sgt. Brian Taylor.

Allred was heading north on State Street about 4:15 p.m., Taylor said, when a Jeep in the southbound lanes attempted to cross the northbound lanes to make a left turn onto California Avenue.

Allred's motorcycle crashed into the passenger side of the Jeep, Taylor said, which critically injured him. Paramedics took Allred to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 36-year-old woman in the Jeep suffered a head injury, Taylor said, and was taken by ambulance to Utah Valley Hospital. The Jeep's driver, a 43 year-old man, drove himself to the hospital and was being treated for head injuries Friday night, Taylor said. Both are expected to survive.

A 12-year-old boy was in the Jeep, but he was not injured, Taylor said.
