Police were investigating an early Wednesday break-in at the Utah Department of Health building in west Salt Lake City.

Staffers reported the incident about 8 a.m. as they arrived for work to discover vandalism inside, including the spraying of an unidentified liquid on door knobs, computers and keyboards, and cabinets.

Salt Lake City Fire Capt. Davin Halvorsen said the substance did not initially appear to be dangerous, but firefighters in hazardous materials gear responded.

Samples of the liquid were provided to the state crime laboratory for testing, but results were not immediately expected.

No injuries were reported.
