Federal law enforcement and police on Thursday jointly announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of two men who stole nine firearms — including two machine guns — from a West Jordan gun shop.

West Jordan police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives hope the cash will bring tips about the two masked burglars who broke into Flawless Firearms, 6708 Airport Road, at 7 a.m. Saturday.

WJPD Chief Doug Diamond said that in addition to the firearms, the burglars made off with two silencers, business checks and papers.

Video surveillance cameras caught them driving off in a white, older model SUV.

Ken Croke, Special Agent in Charge for ATF in Denver, said the machine guns were of special concern to him.

"These types of weapons are extremely dangerous in criminal hands as they can fire several rounds with a single pull of the trigger," he stated. "If anyone has information on the burglary, we urge them to step forward so we can recover these firearms before someone gets hurt."

Stealing firearms from a federally licensed dealer and possessing stolen firearms are federal crimes punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Anyone with information about this crime can call ATF at 1-800-283-4867 or WJPD at 801-840-4000.
