Police were looking for a 15-year-old boy after he allegedly stabbed his uncle in west Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City police reported the incident occurred at 11:17 a.m. Monday at 821 W. Fremont Ave. (1100 South), and that the suspect was last seen running north from the scene.

He was described as a Latino, 5-foot-5, with long black hair in a pony tail, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and tan shorts. He was considered armed and dangerous.

The 29-year-old victim was initially transported in critical condition to the hospital, but was later upgraded to serious.

SLCPD detectives said Tuesday that the altercation that led to the stabbing stemmed from the uncle confronting the youth over "his runaway status and being in his home."
