A 6-year-old boy is expected to survive after a Saturday equipment accident left him in critical condition.

The boy's family was doing landscaping about 5 p.m. in their backyard, near the 400 block of Homestead Street in Colorado City, Ariz., said Colorado City Fire Chief Kevin Barlow, when the child was run over by one wheel of a skid-steer loader.

The boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition, Barlow said, but his condition had improved Sunday, and he would likely be released from the hospital within a few days.
