Eastern Utah's Arches National Park closed down the Delicate Arch Viewpoint Trail late Wednesday morning after recent rainfall flooded the approaches to the iconic scenic site.

Park officials could not say when the trail would reopen, or how many — if any — visitors may have been temporarily stranded at viewpoints along the nearly-mile long trail as a result of the closure.

The Delicate Arch draws tourists from across the globe, and at 64 feet high and 45 feet wide is the largest and most recognized of the park's more than 2,000 free-standing stone arches.
