Democratic National Chairwoman Donna Brazile will be in Utah on Thursday to rally voters as Democrats and Republicans and even an independent jostle to win Utah's six electoral votes, with the state up for grabs for the first time in more than half a century.
Brazile will headline a rally at Washington Square, which surrounds City Hall in downtown Salt Lake City, as part of Democrats' "Forward Together" bus tour, a multistate push in tight contests ahead of the Nov. 8 election.
The visit is to come on the heels of a campaign stop Wednesday by Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence.
The level of attention is almost unheard of in a state that has voted Republican by wide margins in every presidential election since it chose Lyndon Johnson in 1964.
Polling in the state shows Utah is very much up for grabs. One poll had Trump up by a wide margin, two have showed independent candidate Evan McMullin in the lead, and others have showed the state in a virtual tie. None has showed Clinton leading the pack, but in addition to Brazille's visit, the Clinton campaign has deployed additional staff to help in the last days of the election.
