An early Thursday morning field fire in Magna, and a second one hours later at the same location, were being investigated as suspicious.

Unified Fire Authority crews were dispatched to the 15-acre lot near 3500 South and 9200 West about 2:30 a.m. A long-abandoned, dilapidated home in the field was on fire and flames were spreading into the nearby grass.

UFA officials say the field is frequented both by homeless squatters and partying teens, the latter often setting bonfires.

The fire was quickly doused, but UFA was back on the scene at 6:30 a.m. after the blaze either rekindled, or was re-ignited, to again put out the flames.
