Police are looking for a group of women they say have been fraudulently buying prepaid credit cards throughout the state.

The women, at least four, apparently used fraudulent funds and stolen credit cards to purchase prepaid cards at five Wal-Mart stores — Syracuse, Midvale, Orem, Riverdale and Ogden — on Sept. 18, according to a news release from Unified Police Department.

Their operations allegedly have led to a combined $62,000 loss for the affected shops in Utah.

Investigators believe the women are from Michigan and traveling the country as part of a fraud ring. They typically target multiple locations on the same day, the release states.

Anyone with information is asked to call Unified police at 801-743-7000.
