A Provo woman was attacked while jogging in her neighborhood late Saturday night, police say.

The woman was running at 10 p.m. along Slate Canyon Drive, about 600 South and 1600 East, said Provo police officer Nisha King. She saw a man walking the opposite direction across the street from her; a few minutes later, King said, he came up behind the woman and pushed her to the ground.

The woman kicked the man, who got on his knees and began choking her. She continued to kick until the man let go and ran off.

Police are searching for the suspect, described as a man in his mid-20s with a medium build.

Investigators do not believe this case is connected to the man who purportedly groped three women jogging the Provo River Trail in late September.
