Norwegians have a quirky idiom for heavy rainstorms: "Det regner trollkjerringer." Translation? "Its raining troll women."

It doesn't seem too off base, though, to describe weather in northern Utah and the Wasatch Front this week — when the showers and thunderstorms will be heavier than the conventional cats and dogs.

Sunday will bring cool temperatures in the mid-60s with troll-women-level rain starting in the afternoon and evening. Lows will dip into the 50s with soft southerly winds.

Showers will continue across the northern portion of the state through Tuesday.

Utah's Dixie will hover in the low-80s Sunday with breezy but sunny skies. Lows should drop into the mid-50s. The remainder of the week for St. George looks much the same.
