A car-moped collision late Friday morning in Taylorsville sent a man to the hospital.

Unified Police officials said the 22-year-old moped's rider initially was reported to be in serious condition, but later was upgraded to fair.

Public safety dispatchers confirmed the accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. in the southbound lane at 4530 S. Atherton Drive (1100 West). Paramedics from the Unified Fire Authority treated the victim at the scene before transport to the hospital.

The driver of the car, a white Honda Civic, was not reported hurt.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
