Noting this weekend's wet, windy and occasionally just wild and woolly Wasatch weather forecast, you might despair.

But along with the joy of alliteration, there's always the refuge of perspective — even with a Hazardous Weather Outlook in place for the western two-thirds of Utah extending into early next week.

While bracing for winds of 25-40 mph, valley rain and high mountain snow storms, at least daytime highs through the weekend — repeating Friday's forecast — will rise into the low- to mid-70s.

That's Gene Kelley "Singin' in the Rain" weather. Some caution: "Never dance in a puddle when there's a hole in your shoe. It's always best to take off your shoes first," author John D. Rhodes advises.

Still, others might say that if it is "raining cats and dogs," don't step in the poodle. Sorry.

Along with the rain and wind, the Salt Lake and Tooele valleys will offer breaks of autumn sunshine as storm clouds cycle through the region. Mornings will arrive with lows in the upper-40s and low-50s.

If, like Tina Turner, you "just can't stand the rain," you could head south. Utah's Dixie will have winds, but at 10-25 mph they will be a mere breeze compared to places further north. And, the region escapes the rain with daytime highs stretch into the 80s under partly cloudy to sunny weekend skies.

Wherever you are this weekend, the Utah Division of Air Quality says you can feel free to breathe deeply. Air quality statewide falls in the "green," or healthy category over the next few days.

Still, if sagebrush and mold are not your friends, keep the allergy remedies at hand: the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website listed both of those allergens as "high" on its pollen index as of Friday.
