About 8,300 homes and residences in southern and northern Salt Lake County were left in the dark Wednesday morning by scattered power outages.

Rocky Mountain Power spokeswoman Margaret Oler confirmed that beginning 7:21 a.m., nearly 7,500 residences and businesses in Kearns, Taylorsville and West Jordan lost electrical service.

A substation equipment failure, which affected three circuits, was blamed for that outage.

Power was restored to those areas just before 10 a.m.

Meanwhile, a 9:20 a.m. circuit break left another 823 customers without service in North Salt Lake. Crews had restored those clients to the power grid by 10:18 p.m.
