The body of a 60-year-old hiker was found early Thursday in American Fork Canyon, but it does not appear foul play was involved in the man's death.

Utah County sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon said that Arthur Wayne Wiseman, of Cedar Hills, had been reported as overdue from a solitary trek near the Silver Lake Flat Reservoir.

"We got a call from an emergency call box [in American Fork Canyon] that a body had been found near the top of the Silver Lake Flat Road, not far from the trailhead and parking lot," Cannon said.

Wiseman had set out in his truck about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, expected to return home by nightfall. When he did not, his family began searching for him in the Mineral Basin area. They called for help when they were unable to locate him or his truck after several hours, and search and rescue workers initially were unsuccessful as well. At 5:50 a.m. Thursday, another hiker found his body on the trail and went to the Tibble Fork Reservoir to call authorities.

"Mr. Wiseman appeared to have stopped and had taken off his gloves and glasses. He did not appear to have sustained trauma and circumstances in this case are not suspicious," Cannon said.

The body was recovered and turned over to the Utah Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
