The Utah Highway Patrol has identified the victim of a fatal Monday night crash on Interstate 80 in Tooele County as a 56-year-old Salt Lake City man.

UHP Sgt. Todd Royce said that Jose N. Medina was eastbound on I-80 at 6:10 p.m., when his 2006 Suzuki SUV drifted off the left side of the road about 45 miles west of Salt Lake City.

Medina overcorrected to the right and rolled across both travel lanes and the vehicle came to rest on the driver's side.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation.
