A power outage in Carbon County temporarily left more than 5,000 customers without electricity Thursday.

The outage affected Clear Creek, Helper, Kenilworth, Mona, Scofield, Soldier Summit and Spring Glen in the northern part of the county and East Carbon, Price and Wellington in the southern part. Rocky Mountain Power worked to restore electricity to the areas, estimating full restoration by midnight.

The cause of the outage for the northern part of the county was listed as "substation interruption." By 10 p.m., about 1,500 customers remained without power.

The cause for the southern cities was listed as a "transmission interruption." It was fixed about 9 p.m.
