A former Tooele bank teller charged with stealing more than $43,000 from a 90-year-old woman's account has been sentenced to jail time and probation.

Stephanie Huber Bennett, 44, was charged in April in 3rd District Court with one count each of second-degree felony theft and exploitation of a vulnerable adult, as well as five third-degree felony counts of forgery.

In July, she pleaded guilty to the theft count and the other charges were dismissed.

On Tuesday, Judge Robert Adkins sentenced her to 90 days in jail.

As part of a 36 month probation, the judge ordered Bennett to attend therapy as recommended by her current therapist. Also, she is not to be employed in a fiduciary position or hold be in control of others' assets, according to the court docket.

Restitution remains an open issue. If attorneys cannot agree upon the amount, the judge will hold a hearing on the matter, the docket says.

The victim, with the help of a relative, called the police last December after finding about $43,700 in suspicious withdrawals from her Zions Bank account, Tooele City police have said.

Charging documents state that the crimes occurred between December 2011 and December 2015.

Bennett, who had been a Zions Bank teller since 2006, allegedly admitted to police that she had made several fraudulent transactions in connection with the victim.
