A man was struck and killed by a TRAX light rail train Tuesday night in what is suspected to have been a suicide.

The victim was hit by the train near 1700 South and 250 West, roughly midway between the Ballpark and 21st South stations, at about 11 p.m.

Salt Lake City firefighter paramedics pronounced the man, identified only as an adult male, dead at the scene.

Utah Transit Authority spokesman Remi Barron said the incident caused no injuries to operators or passengers on the train, and "minimal" delays for commuters.
