An inmate at the Cache County jail committed suicide Tuesday night, sheriff's officials reported Wednesday.

The inmate, whose name was not immediately released pending notification of kin, committed suicide at about 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the Cache County Sheriff's Office.

Jail staff administered CPR and used a defibrillator, and paramedics also responded, but the inmate was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release.

The investigation has been turned over to the Northern Utah Critical Incident Investigation Team, the news release said.
