A school bus and a car collided Wednesday morning in American Fork, sending two people to the hospital with broken bones, police said.

There were no passengers on the bus and the bus driver was not injured, police Lt. Sam Liddiard said.

The bus driver was going east on State Street at about 7:50 a.m. and was turning left on 1100 East when it hit the westbound car, Liddiard said. He did not know the status of the traffic lights at the time.

The woman driving the car had to be extricated from her vehicle, Liddiard said. The woman and a female passenger were taken by ambulance to separate hospitals, he said.

No other details were immediately available.
