Pleasant View • The Utah Highway Patrol has arrested a man who allegedly threatened a state trooper with a knife and backed into the trooper's vehicle before fleeing on U.S. Interstate 15 near the Weber and Box Elder county line.

Sgt. Todd Royce says the incident began Monday evening when the man was stopped for speeding in a construction zone.

He says the trooper never left his vehicle, but the man approached the patrol car and threatened him with a knife. He then allegedly backed into the patrol car and raced away at speeds up to 95 mph before he left the freeway and eventually rammed into the same trooper's vehicle.

Royce says officers chased him on foot and used a Taser on him before taking him into custody. His name has not been released.
