A speeding driver who crashed into a minivan carrying a woman and four children Saturday night ran from the scene but was caught in the parking lot of a nearby restaurant, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Two of the children, a 9-year-old and 6-year-old, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Primary Children's Hospital after the crash, which occurred about 9:15 p.m. on 7200 South under the Interstate 15 overpass in Midvale, a UHP news release said.

The incident began with a 911 call reporting a reckless driver in Davis County. Troopers spotted a white 1997 Chevrolet Blazer on I-15 at 5300 South that matched the vehicle description, and a pursuit began. The chase ended after about one minute, when the vehicle took the 7200 South off-ramp southbound. The Blazer T-boned the minivan. The driver ran to a Denny's parking lot on 7200 South where a few people subdued him. Troopers took him into custody, the release said. The suspect suffered minor injuries and was taken to Intermountain Health Center.
