More than 3,000 U.S. flags adorn the field near Sandy City Hall in remembrance of the lives lost in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks 15 years ago.

The red-white-and-blue display, dubbed the Healing Field, has been a 9/11 staple since that infamous day in 2001, saluting those who died in the initial attacks and the emergency personnel and military members who fell in the aftermath.

A somber ceremony also took place at Salt Lake City International Airport.
