A TRAX train collided with West Jordan police vehicle Thursday afternoon in Salt Lake City, near the University of Utah football stadium hours before the first game of the season.

The crash, which occurred about 3:30 p.m. near 1500 South Campus Drive, caused some delays for fans heading to the game against Southern Utah University, but trains were back up and running about an hour later, according to Utah Transit Authority spokesman Remi Barron.

While West Jordan police officers typically do not go out of their city boundaries, Barron suspected the officer may have been helping with traffic for the game. The only injury reported was some minor shoulder pain from the officer, Barron said, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
